PURPOSE
The Sawdust Club was formed in the early 1990’s by a few TGO residents who saw a need for a woodworking facility. It slowly grew into a facility that now houses all types of equipment, for both metal and wood working, including:
- Lathes
- Bandsaws
- Grinders
- Planers
- Edger
- Drill presses
- Sanders
- Vises
- Clamps
- Jigs and more.
The shop itself has grown over the years. There is LED lighting throughout, a dust collection system, a compressed air system, work and assembly tables, sand blasting, welding and a paint booth. The facility has gone through several renovations, along with machine and tool upgrades. It is always in a state of improvement, through participative membership.
At The Great Outdoors Sawdust Club, the goal is to provide a facility that enables its membership the opportunity to pursue wood and metal working and homeowner DIY projects in a safe environment. With our members’ help, we continue to grow our club membership, acquire new equipment, and expand the possibilities for member interests.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Sawdust Club is limited to individuals who are Lot Owners and their family members at The Great Outdoors Premier R.V./Golf Resort. For a more detailed description of our incorporation please reference our ByLaws.
The Club is fortunate that its membership consists of many skilled crafts persons across a broad range of skill sets. The Sawdust Club is much more a fellowship club where members freely share their projects with others, quite often seeking advice from the more experienced members. Sharing tips and ideas on how best to complete a project. Collaboration and sharing are routine values for both inexperienced members and the experienced members. It is recognized that most members generally join the club with some shop tool experience, ranging from professional craftsman to hobbyist.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Members often provide valuable services to our own homeowners, TGO Community Services Association and our Nature Center, such as shelving, signage, refinishing and ramps and railings. Often it is a team effort of helping within our community.
